Helping Xion source the Sentinel watch

Following on from various headlines relating to concerns surrounding child security, we worked with Xion to accelerate their plans to bring the Sentinel communications and security service to market. Amongst other things, this involved specifying and identifying a low cost offshore manufacturing partner for the Sentinel watch, which was essentially a miniature ‘stripped down’ GSM SMS/MMS communicator.
Xion was formed in London in 2004 as a personal communications and security solution provider for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). The company’s unique solutions combined patented hardware and application technology to help MNOs drive new recurring revenue streams by increasing traffic on GSM networks.

In 2005, we helped Xion define the Sentinel watch and identify an offshore product delivery company that could complement it’s in house development team and cover all stages of the product lifecycle.

The team used an agile Systems Development Lifecycle Model (SDLC) to reduce time to market. The SDLC is a structured approach to productisation that breaks a project down into finite phases. Phases are performed in order, and each depends on the completion of preceding phases.

Xion’s product development team based in London & Paris concentrated on requirements analysis, solution level design and software development. Hardware development and manufacturing were covered by the partner.
